Bussines men who import from China to Ghana complain about too many charges and duty at the port, but the question is if they don’t make profit why do they still import?
Shipping from China to Ghana are in two main ways:
✈️ By Air Cargo; shipping fees is mainly calculated based on the weight (kg) and for battery items like phones, laptops etc per gadget.
There are several items that cannot be shipped by air example perfumes that are highly inflammable, power banks etc By Air takes 3-5 days to arrive in Ghana. And the charges include shipping and clearance.
🚢 By Sea Cargo; Shipping fees is calculated mainly by Cubic meter (CBM) that includes shipping, clearance and duty and delivery to our warehouse in Ghana. It takes 30-45 days after loading to arrive in Ghana.
Before buying your products, you need to know the approximate CBM in order to know the approximate shipping fees
For special products likes machineries, tiles, medical equipments, cosmetics, liquid goods, solar panels, drugs, engine oil, paints, motor bike, diapers, etc comes with extra charges and fees.
If you are buying different items from different suppliers, you need consolidation/repackaging service and we offer that service. Attached is a video explaining our consolidation service
At every given time, we advise clients to confirm current rates and warehouse address from our official website, social media handles or offices before sending goods to our warehouse in China (we will get a website and social media pages so) Contrary to this, we will assume that client agrees and consent to the price being charged per the given time. Hence, when the items arrive in Ghana, price will not be subject to discount reviews.
WAREHOUSING
- When goods arrive in Ghana, it will be kept at the warehouse for up to 3-5 days (here in suggesting we do it 3 days)
- However after 3-5 days, goods that have not been picked up will attract warehouse charges
DATE OF LOADING
- The loading date is not the same as the departure date.
- The vessel departs 10 to 12 days following the loading date
DAMAGES AND REFUNDS
1. For all goods/packages arriving at our warehouse in China, a photograph, name, cbm, weight and receipt will be documented upon arrival at our warehouse. These records may be shared directly with the client and/or uploaded to our customer portal for verification, transparency, and shipment tracking purposes.
VP Logistics shall not be held responsible for pre-existing damages, defects, or discrepancies identified and documented at the time of receipt from the supplier or sender.
2. Only defective goods officially procured by VPL from our verified suppliers will be replaced.
3. If products are damaged upon arrival in Ghana, resulting from mishandling or negligence on the part of VPL, we will pay half of the duty
cost and one-third of the product cost. The following information should be provided by owners of damaged goods.
- Proof of payment from supplier of the item.
- Any important information for claims
4. We advise clients to ensure that electronic and fragile items like, ceramics, glass etc TV are well package by their suppliers in wooden packages before sending them to our warehouse. We can offer wooden package services upon clients request. A customer not requesting for wooden packages means they accept for us to ship the items as received. VPL will not be financially responsible for client’s negligence.
5. Before sending to the Chinese warehouse, double-check quantity and quality from your supplier. In cases of shortages and product inferiority, VPL will not issue refunds for things that the client bought him/herself.
6. When items are dispatched to our China warehouse, clients are advised to follow up and track their items from their suppliers until we confirm collection on our official pages and website. We only take responsibility for goods when we have received them.
